About.
Meredith M. Sweeney is an award-winning actor, director, writer, and designer currently based in New York, NY.
A proud Wisconsin native, she earned her BFA in Theatre at the University of WI-Superior before relocating to Los Angeles. In California, Meredith won acting awards for her performances in plays and musicals, including an LA Stage Alliance award for her portrayal of "Mary Jo Kopechne" in the West Coast premiere of 1969: A Fantastical Odyssey Through the American Mindscape.
A classically trained actor, Shakespeare fan and scholar, Meredith earned her Equity card while performing the role of "Hermia" in A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in the beautiful hillsides of Topanga Canyon. In the fall of 2016, she was delighted to return to the Mid-West to play "Desdemona" in Wise Fool Shakespeare's production of Othello in Duluth, MN to celebrate the Folger Library's National Tour of The First Folio.
During her first lifetime in New York City, onstage highlights included performing with The Metropolitan Playhouse in their productions of You & I, Alison's House and Within The Law (nominated for Best Revival at the Innovative Theatre Awards). She also earned an Innovative Theatre Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Featured Actress for her performance in the 4-person original work Catch The Sparrow with Isle of Shoals Productions.
While spending "The Covid Years" in Washington, DC, Meredith shot a trailer for the subscription game Hunt A Killer: Mallory Rock. The trailer currently has over 2.4 million views on YouTube! She also devoted her time, energy and creative spirit to opening The Sage Theatre, home of Drunk Shakespeare DC and acting as their first manager, running all aspects behind the scenes (theatre and show!) as the company settled into our nation's capital.
